approximation. The enemy now is someone else"

It must
be accompanied with attention this news
reported (and already denied and already confirmed) efforts at
reconciliation among former presidents Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Fernando
Henrique Cardoso. Depending on the consequences of a possible meeting, this may
be litmus test credibility for the police endpoint of Money
Laundering “Car Wash” Operation, the most interesting news of the
political world in a long time.
This is not a connection between PT and PSDB, but a wave of their
greatest figures toward a cease-fire that has never been sought. The idea is
obviously a political opportunity basis: both the PT (Worker’s Party) and PSDB
(Brazilian Social Democratic Party) interested in shutting down the
strengthening of Senator Neves Team (PSDB-MG). This building does not matter to
party colleagues looking out run for president in 2018. Hence the nod of Lula also to the former presidential
candidate José Serra (PSDB-SP) - one whose wife told a voter in 2010 that Ms.
Rousseff, defending the idea to address the issue of abortion as a public

preaching moderation to talk about impeachment, although it raised the tone

One question, however, is in the air. That Serra (and, presumably,
Alckmin), have an interest in halting the impetus of Neves seems logical.
And what about FHC (Cardoso)? What
interest would have to cooperate at that time?
In a recent interview, the former president gave toucan clues who today
seeks answer to this question. His concern, he said, was not to win this or the
next election and make successors to populate the world. His concern was
history. And the fact if tomorrow historians want to understand why the former
presidents took so long to extend their hands, the answer will be before the
vanity that moves them than the projects that distinguish them.
Guarantor of the economic stabilization process and hence democratic in

which we have already spoken about here.
In this game that for years bordered on irresponsibility, Rousseff live
and broadcast television suggested that Neves, as with real chances to get her
presidency driving drunk. In election worth anything, they justified those who
applauded the low blow. The result is that Neves never swallowed the stoned,

ensaiam aproximação. O inimigo agora é outro
Deve ser
acompanhada com atenção a noticiada (e já negada e já confirmada) tentativa de
aproximação entre os ex-presidentes Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva e Fernando
Henrique Cardoso. A depender dos desdobramentos de um possível encontro, esta
pode ser, noves fora o desfecho policial da Operação Lava Jato, a notícia mais
interessante do mundo político em muito tempo.
Não se trata de uma aproximação entre
PT e PSDB, mas de um aceno de suas maiores figuras em direção a um cessar-fogo
que jamais foi procurado. O cálculo tem, obviamente, um fundamento de
oportunidade política: tanto no PT quanto no PSDB há grupos interessados em
barrar o fortalecimento do grupo do senador Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG). Este
fortalecimento não interessa aos colegas de partido que vislumbram disputar a
Presidência em 2018. Daí a aceno de Lula ao também ex-presidenciável José Serra
(PSDB-SP) – aquele cuja esposa disse a uma eleitora em 2010 que Dilma Rousseff,
defensora da ideia de tratar a questão do aborto como uma questão de saúde
pública, “mataria crianças” caso eleita. Mais ou menos na órbita do Planalto, o
governador paulista, Geraldo Alckmin, tem pregado moderação ao falar sobre
impeachment, embora tenha elevado o tom contra o governo na convenção tucana
que reconduziu Aécio Neves à presidência da legenda.
Ao PT, que durante anos agrediu com a
mesma fúria com que foi e agora é agredido, interessa a pacificação do ambiente
político por um motivo óbvio: a palavra impeachment não tem hora para sair da
boca de eleitores e inimigos, e a ala moderada tucana pouco ou nada parece
fazer para conter a hostilidade do grupo do senador mineiro contra um governo
na lona. Hoje tucanos como Aécio Neves e Carlos Sampaio, líder da sigla na
Câmara, estão mais próximos do extremo do DEM, Ronaldo Caiado à frente, do que
da ala moderada da legenda. O cálculo é radicalizar agora ou nunca.
Ao ver a virulência e o palanque dado a
essa virulência em recortes de jornais e carros de som, Lula deve sentir
saudade do tempo em que batia boca publicamente com FHC. Este, a cada crítica
ao governo Lula, era prontamente desautorizado pelo sucessor. Toda vez que FHC
dizia que faltava projeto de nação aos adversários, Lula respondia, em tom de
deboche, que ex-presidente era igual a peito de homem: não serve pra nada.
Portanto, deveria ficar calado. Hoje Lula, ex-presidente que não poupa pitaco
ao governo da sucessora, quer ouvir o que o antecessor tem a dizer. Pudera.
Perto da hostilidade de Aécio, e das rasteiras de Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), os
bate-bocas entre Lula e FHC ficam parecendo guerra de almofadas.
Uma pergunta, no entanto, fica no ar.
Que Serra (e, presume-se, Alckmin), tenham interesse em frear o ímpeto de Aécio
parece lógico. Mas e FHC? Que interesse teria em colaborar a essa altura do
campeonato?
Em entrevista recente, o ex-presidente
tucano dava pistas a quem hoje busca resposta a essa questão. A preocupação
dele, dizia, não era ganhar esta ou a próxima eleição e fazer sucessores para
povoar o mundo. Sua preocupação era a História. E se amanhã os historiadores
quiserem entender por que os ex-presidentes levaram tanto tempo para estenderem
as mãos, a resposta estará antes na vaidade que os move do que nos projetos que
os distinguem.
De fiador do processo de estabilização
econômica e, consequentemente, democrática do Brasil após a reabertura – o
primeiro eleito pelo povo a receber e entregar ao sucessor a faixa presidencial
desde Juscelino Kubitschek – no primeiro mandato, FHC virou espantalho desde o
fim melancólico de um segundo governo turbulento, marcado por escândalos em
superintendências, privatizações contestadas e desajustes econômicos sob a
sombra da suspeita da compra de votos para aprovar a emenda da reeleição, a
mudança combinada mas não muito no câmbio e a pecha de “estelionatário
eleitoral”.
A desidratação biográfica de FHC sempre
serviu de munição a Lula e o PT. Em um dos debates contra Alckmin, em 2006,
Lula chegou a franzir e levar as mãos à testa para, em tom de ironia, procurar
o ex-presidente na plateia: “Engraçado, não estou vendo o Fernando Henrique
aqui”. Depois, quando começaram a chover prêmios de doutor honoris causa ao
ex-metalúrgico, este e seus apoiadores não perdiam a chance de debochar do
antecessor: o príncipe dos sociólogos, que pouco ou nada contribuiu para a
expansão da universidade pública no país, deveria estar se moendo, provocavam.
O peso histórico de FHC dentro do PSDB
sempre foi levado em conta, mas ele jamais escondeu o ressentimento por ter
sido, em ao menos duas eleições presidenciais, camuflado para não atrapalhar o
candidato do partido à Presidência. Também jamais se conformou pela ausência de
deferência com que era tratado pelos adversários. Esta ausência era parte de
uma narrativa, costurada por anos de marketing político, segundo a qual a
demonização de um partido, mais parecido entre eles do que gostariam seus
apoiadores, é condição para o fortalecimento do adversário.
Na última eleição o apego a esta
narrativa beirou o ridículo. Falou-se mais em fantasmas e riscos de retrocesso
do que em soluções e avanços, num copia-e-cola mal feito do filme “A Vila”, do
qual já falamos neste espaço.
Nessa brincadeira que durante anos
beirou a irresponsabilidade, Dilma sugeriu ao vivo e em TV aberta que Aécio
Neves, já com chances reais de tirá-la da Presidência, dirigia bêbado. Em
eleição vale qualquer coisa, justificavam os que aplaudiram o golpe baixo. O
resultado é que Aécio nunca engoliu a pedrada, a eleição jamais terminou, hoje
tucanos desafiam a lógica e a própria história ao deixarem passar no Congresso
o fim do fator previdenciário e da reeleição, duas invenções tucanas, apenas
para estender o incêndio contra o governo no Congresso.
Não se sabe como e se de fato haverá
encontro entre Lula e FHC, cujas biografias, em suas respectivas crises
políticas, se tornaram objeto de um duro revisionismo histórico.
FHC teve o seu antes mesmo do fim do
segundo mandato. Lula, de presidente mais aclamado da história, corre o risco
de ser lembrado como o líder político que permitiu a instalação de larápios na
maior empresa do Brasil para obter fontes de recursos ao próprio partido e
aliados.
Ambos têm a chance agora de serem
lembrados como as duas maiores referências dos dois maiores partidos do país
que deixaram as picuinhas de lado para, num gesto de espírito público e
grandeza, desativaram juntos uma bomba que os levaria a morrer abraçados. A conferir.
