#BRAZIL PRESIDENCE UNCHANGED: Temer asked that the Legislature to continue working in its "normality"(EBC)

According to the government leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), Temer asked that the Legislature continue working in its "normality". According to Aguinaldo, the president again was outraged by the accusations and expressed confidence that he will "overcome the moment".

"The biggest response we can make is related to the measures that are positive for the country." All the parties at the base were reaffirming support for Temer, when there was no leader, there was the president or a minister representing the party, "he said. Also, stating that those present externalized their "commitment to the country."

Four days after the first briefing from businessman Joesley Batista's indictment, President Michel Temer met with ministers and government leaders at the National Congress on Sunday night (21) at the Alvorada Palace.

The purpose of the meeting, considered informal by allies, was to discuss the political crisis triggered after the newspaper “O Globo” revealed that the owner of the JBS group recorded with the president a conversation accepted by the Federal Public Ministry in the process in which he requested the opening of an investigation against Temer.
According to the government leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), Temer asked that the Legislature to continue working in its "normality". According to Aguinaldo, the president again was outraged by the accusations and expressed confidence that he will "overcome the moment".

Ministers
"The biggest response we can make is related to the measures that are positive for the country." All the parties at the base were reaffirming support for Temer, when there was no leader, there was the president or a minister representing the party, "he said. Also, stating that those present externalized their "commitment to the country."
Ministers Eliseu Padilha (Civil House), Moreira Franco (General Secretariat of the Presidency), Henrique Meirelles (Finance), Helder Barbalho (National Integration), Ronaldo Nogueira (Labor), Gilberto Kassab (Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications) and Raul Jungmann (Defense) participated in the meeting.
Senate President Eunice Oliveira (PMDB) arrived at the Alvorada Palace around 8 pm, as did the government leader in Congress, André Moura (PSC-SE). According to Moura, the fact that the Planalto initially scheduled a party dinner with party leaders was not a drawback.
"It was a meeting like the others, which have taken place since Wednesday. At the right time, we will convene the basis for a formal meeting," he said, without informing the date.

PSDB
Representatives of the first step of the PSDB were also in the Alvorada Palace, despite some threats that the party would leave the base of the government: Antonio Imbassahy (Secretary of Government), Aloysio Nunes (Itamaraty) and Bruno Araújo (Cities). Senator Tasso Jereissati (PSDB-CE), the new national caption chairman, also attended the meeting.
Earlier, senators and deputies Toucan canceled a meeting with only members of the legend that was scheduled for the afternoon. After the denunciations, the senator Aécio Neves (MG) was removed from the mandate and the presidency of the party.
Although PSB has decided to break with the government and defend direct elections for the presidency, the minister of Mines and Energy, Fernando Coelho Filho, who is affiliated with the legend, was reunited with Temer and the other colleagues. According to reports by parliamentarians who participated in the conversation, DEM national president, senator José Agripino Maia (RN), also attended the Dawn.
Recording
Senate leader Romero Jucá (PMDB-RR) also attended the meeting, as did the national president of the PP, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), Senator Rose de Freitas (PMDB-ES) and a few congressmen . The Speaker mayor, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), who was with Temer in the morning at the Jaburu Palace, was not at Alvorada.
On Wednesday (17), the newspaper O Globo published a report according to which, in an audio recording by Joesley Batista, President Michel Temer would have agreed to maintain a good relationship with the former president of the former Speaker of House, Eduardo Cunha .

The contents of the recording, which has been questioned by the Planalto Palace, was disclosed by the Federal Supreme Court. Indicated to solve a problem of JBS, at the request of Temer, Deputy Rodrigo Rocha Loures (PMDB-PR) would have been filmed receiving R $ 500 thousand. Batista and his brother, Wesley Batista, were awarded the award by STF Minister Edson Fachin, Operation Car Wash rapporteur for the court, on Thursday.

On Wednesday last week (May 17th), reports that President Michel Temer was recorded giving his endorsement to the pay-off of a top politician for his silence shook the political establishment in the South American country.
Yesterday that Deputy Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), leader of the government in the House, told a state news agency that President Temer asked that the Legislative Power continue working in its “normality”.
According to Ribeiro, the president again was outraged by the accusations and expressed confidence that he will “overcome the moment”. “The biggest response we can make is with the measures that are positive for the country. All the parties at the base were reaffirming support for Temer,” Ribeiro said.
The leader in congress, André Moura (PSC-SE), said the informal Sunday gathering was, “[…] a meeting like the others that have taken place since Wednesday. At the right time, we will convene the basis for a formal meeting,” he said, without informing the date.
Earlier on Saturday (May 20th), the Federal Supreme Tribunal (STF) minister Edson Fachin decided to send the audio allegedly of Joesley Batista and President Michel Temer to the Federal Police (PF) for expert analysis, at the request of the president’s defense team.
In an address to the nation, Temer questioned the legality of the recording and said there are many contradictions in Joesley Batista’s testimony, such as the information that the president would have endorsed the pay-off for the silence of the ex-Deputy Eduardo Cunha, who is imprisoned in Curitiba.
Meanwhile, despite the bad weather in some cities, demonstrators protested against the government and ask for direct elections in several states across the country. Government news reported in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Recife protests had little turnout Sunday morning. In Porto Alegre, the protest was canceled due to heavy rain.
In São Paulo, the AP reported several hundred people huddled under umbrellas and building awnings to avoid the rain as they called for Temer to leave office. Many said they have opposed Temer since he took over from Rousseff because they regard her impeachment as politically motivated and illegitimate.
“It is funny because we have always said that they rob,” Ana Borguin, a 28-year-old subway worker told the news agency. “But in fact now we have a concrete proof and the worst thing is that they do it openly and talks about millions as if they were talking about a grocery shopping.”
Testimony given by JBS President, Joesley Batista, to federal prosecutors, states that Batista met with President Temer in March and that Brazil’s leader suggested that the CEO continue to render a ‘monthly allowance’ to former Chamber of Deputies President, Eduardo Cunha, for his silence.
Batista is said to have recorded the meeting with the President. According to daily O Globo, Batista told Temer that an allowance was paid to Cunha so that he would not enter a plea-bargaining deal with prosecutors, to which the President allegedly responded, “You have to continue this [payment], ok?”
